EuroCham Business Confidence Index Report 2024
The Vietnam Business Confidence Index Report 2024, published by EuroCham Vietnam, analyses the country's economic resilience and growing business confidence amid challenges such as Typhoon Yagi. In Q3 2024, the Business Confidence Index edged up to 52.0 despite the storm, signalling an early if still fragile recovery. It gives businesses an evidence-based assessment of Vietnam's business environment - the key drivers of market confidence and how companies are adapting to regional disruption. The report is written for business leaders and investors responsible for navigating risk and growth in Vietnam.
Key highlight points:- The economy is proving resilient under pressure. Typhoon Yagi's impact on sentiment proved lower than feared, and more businesses now expect the economy to stabilise and improve next quarter (47%) than to worsen - a sign of steadying confidence.
- Business optimism is rising. Nearly 70% of European business leaders would recommend Vietnam as an investment destination, and 69% remainoptimistic about their prospects over the next five years.
- But bureaucracy is still the main brake on growth. Administrative burdens remain the top obstacle to doing business, cited by 43% of companies, withunclear and inconsistently applied regulations second at 31% - the clearest barrier to converting confidence into investment.
